North 31st Street and IH-35 Connection Improvements
Temple, TX
As part of a major mobility and safety upgrade near Temple High School, Covey collaborated with KPA Engineers and the City of Temple to enhance the North 31st Street corridor and its connection to IH-35. The centerpiece of the project is a multi-leg roundabout that improves traffic circulation between Bray Street, Calhoun Road, and the IH-35 frontage, while also serving as a safer and more accessible gateway to the high school campus.
Covey provided planning and landscape enhancements that elevate the corridor’s visual character, including the central placement of the Temple Wildcat statue and complementary site elements that align with TxDOT and FHWA design guidance. The improvements balance function and aesthetics across 16.5 acres, contributing to both long-term safety and a sense of place in this high-traffic area.
